Seeking Three-Peat

STANFORD, Calif. – The fourth-ranked Stanford women's golf team shoots for its third consecutive Silverado Showdown title, Sunday through Tuesday at Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, California.
 
Last year, the Cardinal collected a nine-shot win against UCLA, combining for a school-record 16-under total of 848 on the par-72 North Course. In the second round, all five Stanford players broke par, a program first, posting a record-setting score of 12-under 276.
 
The Cardinal placed four players in the top 20, led by runner-up Andrea Lee. It was the fourth win in five spring starts for Stanford.
 
Seventeen teams will compete this year.

The Lowdown
• Stanford last competed at San Diego State March Mayhem in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The Cardinal beat two of three opponents in the match play event, downing BYU and Baylor, but lost to Pepperdine. Stanford played without sophomore Albane Valenzuela, who was competing in the LPGA's ANA Inspiration, where she contended early and finished 59th.
 
• The fifth edition of the Silverado Showdown will feature three 18-hole stroke play rounds.
 
• Tee times will be used on Sunday and Monday, starting at 7:45 a.m. PT on the first and 10th tees. On Tuesday, there will a shotgun start at 8 a.m. PT.
 
• Stanford has won the last two Silverado Showdowns.
 
• During the fall portion of the 2017-18 season, Stanford shelved four top-three finishes. The Cardinal also placed first in the stroke play portion of the East Lake Cup.
 
The Field
• Colorado will host the 17-team event. Along with No. 4 Stanford, the field includes No. 1 UCLA, No. 6 Texas, No 8 USC, No. 10 Arizona State, No. 13 Arizona, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 18 Colorado, No. 23 Purdue, No. 32 Wisconsin, No. 37 UNLV, No. 50 Pepperdine, No. 52 Cal, No. 61 San Jose State, No. 65 Oregon, No. 72 Washington State and No. 101 Tulane.
 
 The Course
• Nestled in the rolling hills of wine country, Silverado Resort and Spa features two championship courses – the North and South. Both have been redesigned by World Golf Hall of Famer Johnny Miller, and wander through historic oak trees. Elevated tees and strategically placed water hazards make both courses fun and exciting challenges. Silverado has a longstanding history with the PGA Tour. Current site of the Safeway Open in October, the resort previously hosted the Kaiser International (1968-76), the Anheuser-Busch Classic (1977-80) and the Transamerica Senior Championship (1989-02).
