STANFORD, Calif. – A walk-off sacrifice fly by Lauren Wegner lifted Stanford to a 2-1 win in the eighth over No. 9 Arizona, Saturday, at Smith Family Stadium.

Wegner drove in the winning run to give the Cardinal its first home Pac-12 win since 2015 – when she and fellow seniors Victoria Molina and Arden Pettit were freshmen.

Stanford snapped Arizona's 11-game winning streak and won its first extra-innings game since a 3-2 victory over Iowa on March 2. The Cardinal defeated the Wildcats (40-14, 13-11) for the first time since 2013.

The Cardinal jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Pettit hit an RBI single to left field, scoring third baseman Teaghan Cowles, who led off the game with a walk.

Arizona tied it up in the fifth inning as first baseman Alyssa Palomino hit a solo home run to right centerfield.

The unsung hero for the Cardinal on Saturday was pitcher Carolyn Lee (4-11) who kept Stanford in it all afternoon. The junior fanned seven batters in her seventh complete game of the year, giving up just one run on six hits. She had three inning-ending strikeouts to hold off Arizona threats in the second, sixth and eighth frames.

Arizona's Gina Snyder earned her first career start in the circle. She threw 4.1 innings before being replaced by Taylor McQuillin (25-10).

Pettit finished the afternoon 1-for-2 with an RBI and two sacrifice bunts, including one in the eighth to move pinch runner Carmina Nicolas to third. Running for Kristina Inouye, who singled to lead off the eight, Nicolas slid into home to score the game-winning run off Wegner's sacrifice fly to right field.

Molina singled to centerfield in her final at-bat in the Cardinal uniform. Sophomore Hannah Howell went 2-for-3, while Cowles also had a base-hit.

Stanford finished the season with a 24-31 overall record and a 3-21 mark in the Pac-12. It was the most conference wins for the Cardinal since 2014.
