STILLWATER, OKLA. – Behind a three-under par performance from sophomore Andrea Lee, Stanford made a big push up the leaderboard on the second day of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club.
Stanford took off 17 strokes from its first round score of 308, and posted the third-best team score of the second round at 291. The Cardinal was in 16th following Friday's round, and moved into ninth after Saturday.
Lee bogeyed the first hole, but rebounded with four birdies and 13 pars the rest of the way. She is two-over through two rounds and is currently tied for 20th on the individual leaderboard.
Sophomore Albane Valenzuela had the shot of the day with an eagle on 18. She was one-under when she made the turn and finished one-over (73) for the day. For the tournament, she is five-over and 37th overall.
Senior Shannon Aubert finished with back-to-back birdies to card a two-over 74. Ziyi Wang was one-under with a pair of birdies at the turn and finished three-over (75), while Mika Liu also finished three-over with three birdies on the day.
All schools play three rounds of stroke play, with the top 15 advancing to the last round of stroke on Monday. The low eight advance to match play on Tuesday.
Stanford won its first NCAA title in 2015, finished second in 2016 and tied for third in 2017.
