TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 8 Arizona State blanked Stanford, 8-0, in five innings to clinch the series, Saturday, at Farrington Stadium.

Arizona State (41-9, 14-6 Pac-12) has now recorded nine straight series' wins over the Cardinal (23-28, 2-18 Pac-12).

Freshman Maddy Dwyer was credited with the loss, falling to 12-10. She allowed six runs on six hits in 1.2 innings. ASU's Breanna Macha picked up the win, moving to 14-5. She gave up just two hits and struck out four in the complete game.

Arizona State was aggressive offensively from the start of the game. The Sun Devils plated three runs in the first and three more in the second before the Cardinal replaced Dwyer in the circle with junior Carolyn Lee.

Lee gave up two runs on three hits in 2.1 innings of work. Redshirt junior Whitney Burks and sophomore Molly Fowkes were the only two Cardinal to record hits in the game. Overall, Stanford left five runners on base.

Stanford and Arizona State will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. for the series finale in Tempe.
