STANFORD, Calif. - No. 11 Stanford will play No. 18 Virginia in the first round of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Friday in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Game time is set for 3 p.m. PT.

The winner of that matchup will play on Sunday at noon against No. 3 seed and host James Madison. All games will be streamed free and live at jMUsports.com/MadiZONE.

This will be the eighth NCAA appearance for Stanford, and seventh in 10 seasons under head coach Amy Bokker. In Stanford's last NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016, the Cardinal defeated James Madison, 9-8, and fell to No. 5 USC, 14-8, in Los Angeles. The Cardinal is 2-7 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and advanced to the second round in 2013 and 2016.

This season, Stanford (15-4, 8-2 Pac-12) has produced the second-most wins in program history and is one away from matching the school record set in 2011.

Stanford is led by senior Kelsey Murray, who was named Pac-12 Attacker of the Year and is the program's all-time career leader in goals, assists, points and games played. She is joined on the attack by Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Ali Baiocco, while the defense is led by All-Pac-12 selection Julia Massaro, who has also set a school record with 80 draw controls this season, and senior goalkeeper Allie DaCar, who was an All-Pac-12 honoree and the Pac-12 Tournament MVP.

The Cardinal finished second in the Pac-12 Conference in the regular season and won the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament Championship last weekend with a come-from-behind win on Friday over No. 20 USC, 15-14, and a dominant performance over top-seeded and 14th-ranked Colorado, 15-6, on Sunday in Boulder, Colorado.
