Lee Flawless in Opener

Results Opens in a new window

SAN FRANCISCO - Sophomore Andrea Lee carded a collegiate-best 6-under-par 66 to open the NCAA San Francisco Regional Championships at TPC Harding Park. The bogey-free round on Monday put Lee in a three-way for first among individuals with Colorado's Brittany Fan and UCLA's Mariel Galdiano, as Stanford (-1) is tied for fourth among the 18-team field.

The three-day, 54-hole event resumes Tuesday with live results available at GoStanford.com.

UCLA (-8) had three players under par as the top-ranked Bruins grabbed the first-round lead.

Lee was 1-under through six, and proceeded to string together three straight birdies to sit at 4-under heading into the turn. She went on to birdie the par-5 12th and par-4 16th, with pars on the final two holes to keep the scorecard clean.

"What a great round by Andrea," said Anne Walker, Stanford's Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf. "She's been working on several aspects of her game, and to see it all come together today was great for our team."

Albane Valenzuela and Mika Liu each went 3-over for a share of 52nd. Shannon Aubert (+4) is tied for 61st.
