STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Brandon Wu was chosen the Most Valuable Player on the 2017-18 Stanford men's golf team in a voting by his peers, it was announced Tuesday.
Wu averaged a team-best 70.61 in 12 events, shared the squad lead with four top 10's and led the Cardinal with seven top 25's.
Senior Jeffrey Swegle was selected Most Improved. He lowered his 2016-17 scoring mark from 73.55 to 70.93 while producing four top 10's, highlighted by a career-high second-place showing at The Goodwin.
Junior Isaiah Salinda earned the Spooney Award, given to the player who demonstrates the most tenacity and a never give up attitude.
Senior Franklin Huang collected the Tradition Award determined by leadership, work ethic, academic excellence, and appreciation of the team and university.
Ashwin Arasu captured the freshman scoring award with an average of 73.43.
