Tom Hansen Medal Recipients

STANFORD, Calif. - Foster Langsdorf (men's soccer) and Andi Sullivan (women's soccer) have been selected as Stanford's 2017-18 Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal recipients.

A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

The only two-time Pac-12 Player of the Year in conference history, Langsdorf and the Cardinal won three consecutive national championships, four conference titles and posted a 65-10-13 overall record (.813) during his time at Stanford.

A management science and engineering major with a 3.23 GPA, Langsdorf was a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention pick and an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner. Langsdorf finished his career as the Pac-12's all-time scoring leader with 37 goals, the most for a Stanford player in 34 years. Langsdorf's 14 goals as a senior ranked ninth in the nation, as were his 34 points, while his six game-winning goals were second. Fifth nationally with 15 goals as a junior, Langsdorf became the first Cardinal with consecutive double-digit goal campaigns since 1990 and 1991 and was also the country's second-leading goal scorer over his final two seasons with 29.

Langsdorf produced 18 career game-winning goals, including 14 the past two seasons, to go along with 12 career assists. He was a first team All-American and MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist as a senior and signed as an MLS Homegrown Player with the Portland Timbers in mid-January.

Sullivan currently plays for the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) after being selected No. 1 overall in January's draft. In December, Sullivan became Stanford's third recipient of the MAC Hermann Trophy, joining Kelley O'Hara, Christen Press and Teresa Noyola as winners of college soccer's highest individual honor.

Sullivan is a three-time first-team All-American, four-time All-Pacific region selection, four-time first-team All-Pac-12 selection, the 2016 Pac-12 Player of the Year, the 2014 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, a three-year captain (2015-17) and a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention (2015-17). In 2016, Sullivan led the team in goals (11) and points (29) before taking on a deeper role as a senior in 2017.

Sullivan concluded her illustrious career by lifting the College Cup on Dec. 1 after Stanford defeated UCLA, 3-2, and was a member of the All-Tournament team after scoring the second goal in the final. She has 20 career goals, 19 assists and eight game-winning goals. Sullivan scored three goals this past season, including Stanford's second in a 4-0 win over Penn State to advance to the College Cup on Nov. 24.

A symbolic systems major and three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention, Sullivan is an active participant in soccer clinics for Female Footballers and the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative, and has worked with the Cupertino and Hillsborough American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) programs.

Conference medal winners have been named every year since the 1960-61 academic year. In 2009, the Pac-12 renamed the award the Tom Hansen Conference Medal in honor of Hansen, who retired at the end of June 2009 after serving for 26 years as Commissioner of the Pac-10.
