Cardinal to U23 Worlds

PRINCETON, N.J. – Stanford sophomore Isabella Garcia-Camargo won the U23 Lightweight 2x competition at the USRowing Trials, securing a spot in the U23 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland.

"It is an incredible honor to be representing the U.S.A this summer," said Garcia-Camargo. "Every stroke down the course, I thought about my teammates at Stanford who pushed me throughout the year to be a better athlete and teammate every day. This process has made me so grateful for this team and especially for our coaches, Kate and Joan, who give us the space to support each other and grow into the best versions of ourselves."

Garcia-Camargo, a member of the Cardinal's IRA champion lightweight eight, raced with partner Sophia Denison-Johnson of UCLA Women's Rowing. The duo raced down the Mercer Lake course to a time of 6:58.43, outlasting the other two boats by over 13 seconds.
