STANFORD, Calif. – Five members of the Stanford women's rowing program were named to the Division I All-America teams, as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
Junior Stephanie Grauer and sophomore Meg Saunders picked up first-team honors for Stanford. Grauer was also named first-team All-America in the 2017 season.
Freshman Kaitlyn Kynast and senior Alie Rusher were named to the second team, each earning All-America honors for the first time in their careers.
Senior coxswain Leigh Warner rounded out the honors for the Cardinal with an honorable mention selection. This is Warner's second career All-America honor, as she was named to the CRCA second team as a sophomore in 2016.
All five of Stanford's honorees were season-long members of the Cardinal's varsity eight boat, which registered a fourth-place podium finish at the NCAA Championships in May. Combined with a seventh-overall finish in the second varsity eight and eighth-overall finish in the varsity four, Stanford totaled 104 points to finish in fourth place as a team.
The CRCA recognizes the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains on the national level in women's collegiate rowing. Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's national finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
