Davidson Makes Camp Roster

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior defender Tierna Davidson was one of 25 players selected to the training camp roster for the 2018 Tournament of Nations, as announced by United States national team head coach Jill Ellis.

Davidson, a native of Menlo Park, California, reports to camp on July 20 before the United States opens the tournament against Japan on July 26 at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City at 4 p.m. PT on FS1. Ellis will name a 23-player final roster prior to the start of the four-team tournament, which also includes matches against Australia on July 29 in East Hartford, Connecticut (4 p.m. on FS1) and Brazil on Aug. 2 in Bridgeview, Illinois (4:30 p.m. on FS1).

Davidson is the only non-NWSL player named to the squad and is the youngest player on the roster at 19. In 2017, Davidson started all 25 games and played nearly every minute of Stanford's national championship-winning season. She was named Pac-12 Defender of the Year, College Cup Most Outstanding Defender, first-team All-America and a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.

She is joined in the national team by former Cardinal Christen Press of the Utah Royals F.C. – it is Press' first call-up since returning from a brief stint in Sweden. Press is Stanford's all-time leader in points (183), goals (71) and assists (41).
