STANFORD, Calif. - The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Thursday that JJ Arcega-Whiteside was named to the Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding FBS receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position, who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
Arcega-Whiteside had a team-high 48 receptions for 781 yards and nine touchdowns in 2018, a figure that ranked second among Pac-12 Conference players and 25th nationally. Arcega-Whiteside tied a Stanford bowl game record with three receiving touchdowns against TCU in the Alamo Bowl.
The recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award national selection committee -- a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers.
Receivers are periodically added to the watch list as their season performances dictate.
The Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live Dec. 6 on The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
Stanford begins the 2018 campaign on Aug. 31 against San Diego State. Kickoff at Stanford Stadium is set for 6 p.m. PT.
