STANFORD, Calif. – The Friends of John Mackey named Stanford junior Kaden Smith to the John Mackey Award preseason watch list, as announced Friday.
Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award selection committee.
Smith, a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention in 2017, played in 14 games during his sophomore season. He accounted for 414 yards and five touchdowns on 23 receptions. Smith averaged 18.0 yards/catch.
The winner will be announced Dec. 5.
Stanford begins the 2018 campaign on Aug. 31 against San Diego State. Kickoff at Stanford Stadium is set for 6 p.m. PT.
