STANFORD, Calif. - Rising fifth-year senior linebacker Bobby Okereke was named to a third preseason watch list when the Butkus Award announced the beginning of its selection process for the nation's best linebacker on Monday.
Okereke, who is a management science and engineering graduate pursuing his master's degree in media studies, was third on the team with 96 tackles last season and was an All-Pac-12 honorable mention selection. He has also been named to the LOTT Impact Trophy and Bednarik Award watch lists.
The Butkus Award watch list contains 51 linebackers, mirroring the legendary "51" pro jersey associated with the award's namesake Dick Butkus.
Stanford begins the 2018 campaign on Aug. 31 against San Diego State. Kickoff at Stanford Stadium is set for 6 p.m. PT.
