Wuerffel Watch List

STANFORD, Calif. - Rising fifth-year senior cornerback Alameen Murphy was named to the Wuerffel Trophy preseason watch list on Thursday.

The Wuerffel Trophy is presented annually to the college football player "who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement."

Murphy, who is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree, has played in every game over the last three seasons. He is the third-leading tackler returning to the Cardinal in 2018, and first among defensive backs. During his time on The Farm, he has been an active member of the community. In addition to his visits to local children's hospitals, the Fort Washington, Maryland, native has been a part of Stanford Football's "Set the Expectation" initiative in the fight against sexual assault.

Stanford begins the 2018 campaign on Aug. 31 against San Diego State. Kickoff at Stanford Stadium is set for 6 p.m. PT. Tickets are available here.
