POZNAN, Poland – Several Stanford women's rowers are in position to capture medals Sunday at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships.
Five members of the Cardinal – Stephanie Grauer, Kaitlyn Kynast, Alie Rusher, Meg Saunders and Leigh Warner – will compete in the A Final of the women's eight on Lake Malta. Kynast (two seat), Rusher (five seat) and Warner (coxswain) will represent the United States eight after placing second in its heat with a time of 6:24.96 on Thursday. Grauer (six seat) will face the U.S. entry as a member of Canada's eight in Sunday's A Final. Canada captured its heat race on Thursday with a time of 6:21.70, three seconds ahead of the U.S. Saunders (three seat) will represent Great Britain in Sunday's A Final. Great Britain won its heat race on Thursday with a time of 6:28.29.
Sunday's Under 23 Women's Eight A Final is scheduled for 3:55 a.m. PT.
Representing the United States four at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships is Chase Shepley (bow seat). The U.S women's four placed third in its heat race on Thursday with a time of 7:10.54 and finished fourth in its repechage on Friday with a time of 7:24.87. The four will compete in the B Final, scheduled for 12:40 a.m. PT.

All six of Stanford's U23 Worlds representatives were members of the Cardinal varsity eight, which placed fourth in the NCAA Championships Grand Final in May, helping the Cardinal earn a fourth-place, podium finish as a team. The boat also captured the silver medal at the Pac-12 Championships this season.
