TOKYO, Japan – Senior Abrahm DeVine and junior Grant Shoults each punched their tickets with Team USA to next summer's FINA World Aquatics Championships in South Korea after strong finishes at last week's Pan Pacific Championships.
DeVine (1:57.81) placed fifth in the 200-meter individual medley as the second-fastest American in the field, earning a spot on the World Championships team. The reigning Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year qualified for the international meet after placing second at Phillips 66 Nationals with 1:57.41.
Shoults (3:48.27) took home fourth place in the 400-meter freestyle, earning a spot in the A-final after swimming 3:48.23 in the morning session. As the second-fastest American behind Zane Grothe, Shoults secured his place on Team USA for next summer's World Championships. Shoults' 3:46.90 at Phillips 66 Nationals earned him a spot at Pan Pacs, his first berth on the United States' senior team.
