DAVIS, Calif. – Freshmen Sangeet Sridhar and Tomas Kopczynski advanced to Sunday's championship doubles match with a pair of wins on Saturday at the Aggie Invitational at Marya Welch Tennis Center.
Sangeet and Kopczynski will face California's Dominic Barretto and Mert Zincirli at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday in the title match after posting a pair of wins on Saturday.
Sophomore Timothy Sah earned a berth in the semifinals of the A flight singles draw with a three-set win over Santa Clara's Andrew Gu on Saturday. Sah, the sixth seed, will Barretto, the seventh seed, on Sunday morning in the semifinal match. The Aggie Invitational Championship match will take place Sunday afternoon.
Sridhar, the No. 2 overall seed in the A Flight, won his only match on Friday, but fell to Barretto in three sets on Saturday.
Both Cardinal doubles teams won their matches on Friday as Turchetta and Timothy Sah cruised past Portland's Carlos Donat and Sema Pankin (8-3). Sridhar and Tomas Kopczynski made their collegiate debut in doubles with an 8-5 win over Pacific's John Horoz Garner and Jonathan Lieu.
The Aggie Invitational is the first of six tournaments members of the Cardinal will play in this fall.
