Senior Summers

STANFORD, Calif. - In addition to a team trip to Fiji and New Zealand that included clinics, exhibitions and cultural experiences, the rising seniors of Stanford women's lacrosse have traveled, worked and trained this summer. Here is what they have been up to since the taking home the Pac-12 Tournament championship, and prior to their return to campus for Fall quarter.

Genesis LuceroI have been working at an engineering firm (Hunsacker and Associates) getting experience in design and learning about business ownership. In my free time, I am training for next season, but also enjoying the outdoors and activities in beautiful San Diego.

Areta BunessAfter our team trip, I traveled to Southeast Alaska to visit family, hike, and stand on icebergs and glaciers. Then I came back to Stanford where I've been doing environmental engineering research at the Spormann Lab in the Clark Center. We are working on a project with sulfate-reducing bacteria in the gut microbiome that serve as biomarkers of inflammation. I've also been luck enough to do morning runs with Coach Snyder!

Julia MassaroThis summer I worked as an equity research intern at Morgan Stanley in New York. Most of my summer was spent working but on the weekends I did fun things in New York, including The Met and Smorgasburg, which is a large farmers market in Brooklyn. To end the summer, I went on a family vacation to Greece.

Shelby ParksI have been living in Santiago, Chile, for the past month with a Chilean family. I volunteer in a hopital here, primarily assisting patients who are chronically oxygen-dependent. I uslally use the weekend to travel outside of the city and have visited the mountains, the beach, and the desert.

Monika SivilliThis summer I have been splitting my time between two companies. I'm interning for ION Marketing Group, a consumer engagement agency (the office is right near Times Square!). At ION I have helped ideate and bring to life experiential and event marketing campaigns for company clientele. My favorite part is the creative aspect of brainstorming concepts for pop up events, in store activations, product launches, etc for potential clients. I have also been shadowing the CEO of Silicon Alley Media, a Communication and PR Agency. The CEO is also a Stanford alum!! My main responsibility consists of researching and gathering information on industry trends within media, entertainment and tech companies for clients' competitors and organize presentations for those clients. My oldest sister is also getting married at the end of September so my summer has been filled with fun planning and celebrations with my family for her and her fiance's big day!!
