NEW LONDON, Conn./CLEVELAND/ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Stanford sailing won the Danmark Trophy, posted a pair of impressive finishes at the Hinman Trophy and advanced at the Women's Showcase Semifinals over the weekend.
In a shortened Danmark Trophy regatta, the Cardinal bested the 20-team field with just 63 points. Only five races were completed in each division due to weather. Freshman skipper Wiley Rogers and sophomore crew Victoria Thompson won the A division with just 17 points. The duo finished in the top three in four of their five races. In the B division, the freshman pairing of skipper Telis Athanasopoulos Yogo and crew Sammy Pickell finished seventh with 46 points -- they finished outside the top 10 just once in five races.

At the Women's Showcase Semifinals in Maryland, Stanford finished eighth among the 17 schools to advance to the finals of the event, which will take place in two weeks in Providence. Sophomore skippers Christina Sakellaris and Stephanie Houck were joined by crew Cassie Obel and Camille White, respectively. Sakellaris and Obel were 10th in the A divsion with 86 points, while Houck and Obel were seventh in the B division with 70 points. Stanford's 156 points clinched its spot among the top-nine finals qualifiers.
Meanwhile in Cleveland, the Cardinal were represented by Jacob Rosenberg, Kathryn Booker, Jack Parkin, Taylor Kirkpatrick, Romain Screve and Meg Gerli at the Hinman Trophy. Stanford was the only all-undergraduate team to reach the gold round and finished seventh overall. Stanford's alumni finished fourth at the 12-team regatta. In all, 15 Stanford affiliates competed at the national team race regatta.
Next weekend, the Cardinal heads back East for the Stu Nelson Trophy in Connecticut and the Coed Showcase Semifinals in Boston. The Cardinal is also slated to compete at the UCSD Open in San Diego.
