The Tournament
The 54-hole event is hosted by the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy Dr. Condoleezza Rice. Dr. Rice served as U.S. Secretary of State under President George W. Bush from 2005-09 and is an avid golfer. The Stanford Intercollegiate returns to Stanford this year after being held at Poppy Hills last fall.

The Format
Three rounds of stroke play. Teams will be grouped in threesomes and will be paired again after the first and second round based on scores. In the team competition, the low four out of five scores will be counted each day. The team champion and individual medalist will be honored.

The Last Edition
Stanford maintained the tournament lead for the first two days before falling short to UCLA during the final round at Poppy Hills. The Bruins overcame a 7-stroke deficit by scoring a 9-under 275 and defended its title with a 2-under 849 over the three-day span. Stanford's Andrea Lee birdied the final two holes to share medalist honors with UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit.

The Course
Located in the hills overlooking Stanford's campus, the Stanford University Golf Course is rated as one of the nicest courses in the United States.

The par-71, 6,130-yard course was designed by architects William Bell and George Thomas in 1930.

Throughout the years, the Stanford University Golf Course has hosted many intercollegiate and amateur events, including the Peg Barnard Intercollegiate, Stanford Intercollegiate, the Pac-10 Championships, 2016 NCAA Stanford Regional, NCAA Women's Championships, USGA Junior Amateur Qualifying, U.S. Open Qualifying, and The Gathering at the Farm, a former Senior PGA Tour event.

The Stanford University Golf Course has produced some influential players over the years. Since becoming a varsity sport in 1970, Stanford's women's program has notable alumni that have gone on to play professionally.  Some of those players include LGPA Hall of Famer Mickey Wright, Shelley Hamlin, Michelle Wie, Hillary (Homeyer) Lunke, Mhairi McKay, Stephanie (Keever) Louden, and Joanne Picillo.

On the men's side, Stanford was graced with producing legendary golfers such as Tom Watson, Notah Begay, Cameron Wilson, Patrick Rodgers and Tiger Woods. The USGA has also had three Cardinal alumni and former players who were President of the association; Sandy Tatum, Grant Spaeth, and Walter Driver.
