STANFORD, Calif. - Fresh off a homestand sweep, No. 21 Stanford was well represented among this week's America East Player of the Week honors, as announced on Tuesday.
Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Bing was named America East Defensive Player of the Week while sophomore attacker Corinne Zanolli was tabbed the America East Offensive Player of the Week. It's the second honor this season and fifth career for Bing. Meanwhile, Zanolli was recognized for the second time this season and second of her career.
Bing came up with 12 saves combined in victories against Pacific and UC Davis, including a 5-0 rout of the Aggies on Sunday in the conference opener for both teams. Bing has again been dependable in the cage, making 49 saves in 10 starts this season while producing a 1.08 GAA.
Zanolli notched a hat trick against UC Davis while contributing one goal and one assist two days earlier against Pacific. Zanolli, who ranks second in the country with 15 goals, has already matched her scoring total from last year as a freshman while also leading the Cardinal in assists (5), points (35) and shots (44).
Riding a seven-match winning streak, Stanford prepares for a challenging weekend ahead, traveling to Iowa City, Iowa, to square off against No. 6 Michigan on Saturday and No. 10 Iowa on Sunday. The Cardinal is seeking a signature win after dropping three hard-fought losses to top-15 opponents to begin the season.
