STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford middle blocker Tami Alade has been selected the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week.
Alade averaged 1.67 blocks per set, while hitting .423 in a pair of road sweeps at No. 15 USC and No. 20 UCLA. The senior had three blocks and tallied six kills on 11 errorless swings to hit .636 against the Trojans. She followed up with a match-high seven blocks to go with seven kills versus the Bruins.
For the season, Alade leads the Pac-12 and ranks second nationally with 1.67 blocks per set. She is also third in the conference with a .368 hitting percentage.
It is the first career weekly honor for Alade and the 10th for the Cardinal this season. Stanford now has 114 player of the week honors all-time.
No. 2 Stanford begins a four-match homestand this week with Colorado on Friday and Utah on Sunday.
