GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Stanford lightweight rowing rounded out its fall competition schedule on Saturday at the Head of the American regatta at Lake Natoma. The Cardinal placed second in the women's collegiate 8+ event and registered second and eighth place finishes in the 4+ event.
The Cardinal's four-time reigning IRA champion lightweight eight boat, fresh off a collegiate title at the Head of the Charles, posted a time of 17:26.1 in the women's collegiate 8+ competition. Washington placed first with a time of 17:02.2, and California placed third behind a time of 17:28.3.
Stanford also raced two boats in the women's collegiate 4+ event. The A boat finished second in the event with a time of 20:07.9. Oregon State placed first with a time of 20:00.7, while San Diego B finished 10 seconds behind the Cardinal at 20:17.8 for third place. The B boat placed eighth for the Cardinal, clocking a time of 21:52.8 on the Lake Natoma course.
