Team Academic Award

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford was honored by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday with the College Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year.

A total of 773 collegiate teams (289 men, 484 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn recognition. Stanford was one of 191 schools to have both its men's and women's soccer programs recognized.

The Cardinal posted a cumulative 3.38 GPA during 2017-18, which led the Pac-12 and tied for 19th among Division I schools. It's Stanford's fourth consecutive season earning the award.

Last fall, Stanford boasted a pair of United Soccer Coaches All-West Region scholars in goalkeeper Nico Corti and College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player Sam Werner and had 13 players earn Pac-12 all-academic recognition, the sixth consecutive year of 10 or more under Knowles Family Director of Men's Soccer Jeremy Gunn and his staff. Foster Langsdorf and Tomas Hilliard-Arce were also named Senior CLASS Award All-Americans for their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

No. 18 Stanford (5-1-3, 2-0-0 Pac-12), which has won eight consecutive Pac-12 matches and is unbeaten in its last 13 league contests, plays at Cal on Sunday at 3 p.m.
