Freshman Features: Morgan Tankersley

STANFORD, Calif. - In the final part of a nine-part series, Cardinal fans get to know freestyle specialist and Tampa, Florida, native Morgan Tankersley.

What are you most looking forward to about Stanford?
I'm most looking forward to the tight knit athlete community and the support this group provides.

Favorite swimming moment so far?
My favorite high school swimming moment is states during junior year. My teammates worked so hard and it finally paid off when we were able to win the 400 freestyle relay. My favorite swimming moment at Stanford so far was my first day in the distance group. I don't have a lot of pulling experience, and during a long pull set the other girls were encouraging me and pushing me faster than I thought I could go!

Best part about being a swimmer?
The best part of being a swimmer is the friendships I've been able to make through the sport.

Biggest passion outside of swimming?
I love marine conservation, specifically regarding sharks. I would love to someday do research in this area.

Favorite Netflix series right now?
Black Mirror, The Office, or American Horror Story.

Name three things on your bucket list.
Cage diving with great white sharks, skydiving, and traveling to Australia.

What are your career aspirations after Stanford/swimming?
I hope to attend medical school and pursue a career in neuroscience or neurology.
