Cardinal Seeks Split

DUBLIN, Ohio – Stanford looks to earn a split Tuesday in the weather-shortened Jack Nicklaus Collegiate Invitational at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

One of eight teams competing in the match play tournament, the Cardinal lost to South Carolina in the quarterfinals on Monday morning, 4-2. Sophomore Ashwin Arasu and junior Henry Shimp recorded the lone victories.

Facing Kent State in the afternoon, Stanford was leading in all six matches when play was called at 6:45 p.m. ET due to lightning in the area.

Senior Isaiah Salinda is 2-up through 14 holes; freshman Ethan Ng is 2-up through 13 holes; junior David Snyder is 3-up through 12 holes; Arasu is 4-up through 11 holes; Shimp is 3-up through 11 holes; and senior Brandon Wu is 6-up through 10 holes.

Matches will resume at 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday. The final round has been canceled due to the threat of thunderstorms. The second-round winners between Georgia Tech-South Carolina and Georgia-Clemson will be declared co-champions.
