SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – In an all Cardinal final Sunday at the UCSB Classic, junior William Genesen came out on top to win the tournament.
Genesen defeated teammate Michael Genender, 7-5, 7-5, to capture the title. It marked the second consecutive year a Stanford player won the singles title, after David Wilczynski won the 2017 event.
Genender and Genesen were joined by Jack Barber and Kento Perera, competing in singles and doubles at the weekend tournament on the UC Santa Barbara campus.
The doubles team of Barber and Genesen reached Sunday's final, where they faces Armando Soemarno and Charles Roberts or Oregon. The Ducks came out on top, 8-4, in Sunday's match.
Next up for several members of the Cardinal this fall is the ITA Northwest Regional Championships next weekend in Seattle.
