STANFORD, Calif. – Former Stanford star Lauren Kim earned her way back to the LPGA Tour on Saturday by tying for 23rd at the LPGA Q-Series in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
A native of Los Altos, California and a three-time WGCA All-America selection (2014-16), Kim fired rounds of 72-76-71-73-74-70-70-74 to finish at 4-over 580 to gain LPGA Membership Category 14 on the LPGA Priority list for 2019.
She played in two LPGA events in 2017 and competed on the Symetra Tour in 2018, where she won her first pro tournament at Florida's Natural Charity Classic and made every cut.
Kim helped lead Stanford to the program's first NCAA title in 2015 and was All-Pac-12 first team in 2015 and 2016. She graduated with a degree in science, technology and society in 2016 and was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Kim will be reunited with ex-Stanford teammate Mariah Stackhouse on the LPGA Tour. Stackhouse holds the school's career scoring record with an average of 72.31, followed by Kim at 72.63. Kim owns the program's junior and senior scoring marks with 72.70 and 71.87, respectively.
