STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore tight end Colby Parkinson, who tied a school record on Saturday, was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the conference office.
Parkinson matched the school record with four touchdown receptions -- a program record for tight ends -- in Stanford's 48-17 victory over Oregon State. He is the first FBS tight end with four touchdown catches in a game since 2011 (Northwestern's Drake Dunsmore), and just the fifth to do so since 1996.
All four of Parkinson's scores came in the first half as the Cardinal (6-4, 4-3 Pac-12) built a 17-point lead. The Simi Valley, California, native also finished with a career-high six receptions and 166 receiving yards, including a career-long 75-yard touchdown reception. His other scores came from 28, 9 and 5 yards out. All six of his catches went for first downs, and his 166 yards are the most by a Cardinal tight end since Coby Fleener's 173-yard game in the 2011 Orange Bowl.
Since it was established in 1983, Parkinson is just the eighth tight end to win the conference's weekly offensive award, and the first since Stanford's Zach Ertz in 2012.
Parkinson and the Cardinal are preparing for the 121st Big Game on Saturday. Kickoff in Berkeley is set for 4:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
