SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Stanford sailing finished second at the Coed Pacific Coast Championship over the weekend.

Stanford finished with 101 points, which trailed only the host Gauchos as UC Santa Barbara took home the title with just 88 points.

Sophomore skipper Romain Screve and freshman crew Sammy Pickell won the A division in dominating fashion. The duo won seven of the 11 races and finished second in two others. They totaled just 28 points, which was six clear of second place and 23 better than third.

Junior skipper Jacob Rosenberg and senior crew Kathryn Booker took bronze in the B division. They won two races and never finished lower than fifth. In the end, they tied USC for second with 37 points but lost a tiebreaker for second.

Freshmen John Kirkpatrick (skipper) and Laurel Foster (skipper) were second in the C division, while freshman Ashton Borcherding served as a reserve for the Cardinal. Kirkpatrick and Foster totaled 36 points, highlighted by four runner-up finishes.

Stanford prepares for a big week. Literally. The Big Sail is set for Tuesday with the first race beginning at noon. Later in the week, the Cardinal will travel to Newport Beach for the ICSA Match Race Nationals, Nov. 16-18.
