Cardinal Signs Eight

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford head coach Jason Borrelli and his staff have signed eight promising high school seniors to wrestle for the Cardinal starting next season.
 
Stanford's incoming class has consists of Jaden Abas (San Diego, Calif.), Nick Addison (Fair Haven, N.J.), Luciano Arroyo (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), Logan Ashton (Buford, Ga.), Jackson DiSario (McDonough, Ga.), Seamus O'Malley (Lakewood, Ohio), Fabian Santillan (Eaglewood, Colo.) and Dawson Sihavong (Clovis, Calif.).
 
"We are very excited about our eight signees.  A core ingredient for success is talent acquisition, and this class is certainly full of talent," said Borrelli, who is in his 11th year at the helm of the program.
 
Abas is the top-rated 149-pound prospect in the nation by Flowrestling. A California state champion out of Rancho Bernardo High School, he is ranked No. 1 in the nation by InterMat and No. 2 according to Flowrestling. He is a two-time state finalist and three-time medalist. A two-time finalist and Super 32 national champion, Abas was also an Ironman finalist and a Doc Buchanan champion. He is the No. 6 overall 2019 prospect by TheOpenMat, No. 8 overall for Flowrestling and No. 11 overall on InterMat.
 
Addison is a standout at Rumson-Fair Haven High School. A New Jersey state medalist, he was an NHSCA Nationals All-American. Addison is projected to wrestle at either 184 or 197 pounds for the Cardinal.
 
Arroyo is a three-time California state medalist out of Calvary Chapel High School. A Doc Buchanan medalist, he also reached the podium at Flo Reno Worlds. His expected weight class for the Cardinal is 133 or 141 pounds.
 
Ashton is a three-time state finalist and a Georgia state champion for Buford High School. A FloNationals All-American, he is a two-time NHSCA Nationals All-American and a Kansas City Stampede champion. He is projected to be a 125-pounder for the Cardinal.
 
DiSario hails from Ola High School in McDonough, Georgia. A three-time Georgia state medalist and a two-time state champion, he is also a Super 32 national medalist. Ranked No. 19 in the nation by InterMat, DiSario is also a six-time freestyle and greco-roman state champion. A Southeast Regional Champion, he was a Preseason Nationals All-American. DiSario is projected to wrestle at 125 or 133 pounds for Stanford.
 
O'Malley comes to The Farm from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. A member of two Ohio state team championships, he is also a state medalist. O'Malley also reached the podium at the Walsh Ironman tournament. He will be a heavyweight for the Cardinal.
 
Santillan is a Colorado state champion and a two-time state medalist from Grandview High School. He was named Outstanding Wrestler after winning the Reno Tournament of Champions, where he has been a two-time tournament finalist. Santillan is expected to wrestle at 141 pounds for Stanford.
 
Sihavong is a two-time California state medalist out of Bullard High School. A three-time All-American and a Postseason Nationals champion, he is ranked No. 13 nationally by InterMat. Sihavong is a Fargo junior greco national finalist and Fargo cadet greco All-American. A top-100 2019 prospect by InterMat, he is projected to wrestle at 157 pounds for the Cardinal.
 
"My staff worked tirelessly to build upon last year's successful recruiting efforts, as we recognize the importance of stockpiling top talent year-after-year," explained Borrelli. "We certainly feel that we accomplished that objective with this group and we have very high expectations for all of them. 
 
"With that said, any time that you land a top-10 overall prospect, it makes things that much more exciting.  We are inching our way closer and closer to having all of the pieces in place to position ourselves to compete for NCAA championships, and there is definitely a lot of buzz about Stanford wrestling on the national stage.  We look forward to getting the class of 2019 on campus next fall and going to work."
