The Dance Begins

Bracket Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Top-ranked Stanford earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA women's soccer tournament and will play host to Seattle on Friday at 7 p.m. at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

This is the first ever matchup between the two programs with tickets going on sale Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The Cardinal (17-0-2, 10-0-1 Pac-12) wrapped up an undefeated regular season for the fourth time in program history (2009, 2010, 2011). The Cardinal also went undefeated in Pac-12 play for the ninth time, capturing its fourth consecutive Pac-12 championship, 13th as a program and eighth under the Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe enters the postseason with a 43-11-4 in playoff action, having guided Stanford to the tournament for each of his 16 seasons on The Farm.

Should Stanford advance past the first round, the second- and third-round matches will be played at Cagan Stadium the weekend of Nov. 16-18 with the quarterfinal round, if necessary, slated for Nov. 23. Stanford has played host to the first four rounds nine of the last 10 seasons, advancing to the College Cup seven times during that span.

Last week, Stanford wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 2-0 win at California (Nov. 2) and a 4-1 win at Arizona State (Nov. 4). The Cardinal rides a program-record 41-game unbeaten streak into the postseason, having not lost a match since Aug. 25, 2018. The streak is the sixth-longest in NCAA history.
