In the Red Again

KAILUA, Hawaii – Junior Andrea Lee fired a bogey-free, final-round 3-under-par 70 to tie for third on Wednesday in the Nanea Pac-12 Preview at Nanea Golf Club.

Lee, the defending champion, made a strong push to repeat by shooting a 3-under 33 on the back nine. She finished at 4-under 215, two strokes behind co-champions Yu-Sang Hou of Arizona and Tze-Han Lin of Oregon.

In three stroke play starts this fall, Lee tied for third at the East Lake Cup and finished fifth at the Annika Intercollegiate. She is a combined 13-under and has broken par in six of seven rounds, shooting even in the other.

Teeing it up for the last time in the fall season, the second-ranked Cardinal placed sixth in the 12-team field. Stanford combined for a 4-over 296 score on Wednesday to wind up at 3-over 879.

Arizona captured the team crown with a 54-hole total of 2-under 874.

Junior Albane Valenzuela (75) capped a strong fall by tying for 12th at even-par 219. She secured her second career win at the East Lake Cup last week and finished third at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Valenzuela was a combined 11-under and shot par or better in six of seven rounds, besting par five times.

"Andrea and Albane have really stepped up their games this fall as leaders and Player of the Year candidates," said Anne Walker, the Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf. "We are lucky to have two of the most successful players in the world on our team and under their leadership, we have once again positioned ourselves among the top teams in the country and hopefully we will be chasing down a championship in May."

Freshman Aline Krauter (75) shared 22nd at 2-over 221, while junior Ziyi Wang (75) tied for 28th at 5-over 224 and sophomore Kelsey Zeng (79) tied for 47th at 12-over 231.
