STANFORD, Calif. – Alana Cook, Jordan DiBiasi and Catarina Macario were named Pac-12 Players of the Year and the Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year, as announced Wednesday.
Cook was named Defensive Player of the Year, DiBiasi picked up Midfielder of the Year honors while Macario earned Forward of the Year recognition for the second straight season. Cook, DiBiasi, Macario and Tegan McGrady made the All-Pac-12 first team with Jaye Boissiere, Madison Haley, Alison Jahansouz, Kiki Pickett and Sophia Smith being named second-team All-Pac-12. Naomi Girma earned All-Pac-12 third team honors, joining Smith on the All-Pac-12 freshman team.
Ratcliffe, in his 16th season at the helm of the program, earns Coach of the Year honors for the fourth straight season and ninth time overall. No other coach in conference history has won the award more than twice. Stanford's 10 student-athletes were the most of any school, and it is the second straight season in which Stanford has won forward, midfielder and defender of the year.
Cook, a finalist for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award from Far Hills, New Jersey, is Stanford's second consecutive Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honoree after Tierna Davidson won the award in 2017. A member of the 2017 All-Pac-12 first team, Cook has played nearly every minute of all 88 games since her arrival on The Farm in 2015. This season, she has helped anchor a defensive unit that led the Pac-12 in goals-against average (0.46) during the regular season. A two-year captain and member of the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list, Cook has one goal and one assist this season after earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2017.
DiBiasi, a senior captain from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, earns her first career All-Pac-12 first team and Player of the Year selections after picking up College Cup All-Tournament team and All-Pac-12 second-team honors as a junior. She has missed just one game in her four-year career, leads the team in assists (8) and ranks second in goals (9) and points (26). She is Stanford's second consecutive Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year with Andi Sullivan claiming the award in 2017.
Macario, a sophomore from San Diego, leads the Pac-12 in points per game (2.07), goals per game (0.86) and shots per game (5.14) after leading the nation in points (50) and assists (16) as a freshman. She earned ESPNW Player of the Year, first-team All-America, Pac-12 Forward of the Year and All-Pac-12 first-team honors in 2017, and is a member of the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy watch list.
McGrady, a senior from San Jose, California, picks up her first career first-team honor after being named All-Pac-12 second team in 2017. Stanford's first-choice left back has one goal and two assists in 17 appearances, having earned College Cup All-Tournament team last season. McGrady is also a member of the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list.
Jahansouz, a redshirt senior from Huntington Beach, California, earns her first career All-Pac-12 nod as the conference's overall leader in goals-against average (0.46) and shutouts per game (0.53). A member of the 2017 College Cup All-Tournament team, Jahansouz led Pac-12 play in goals-against average (0.34), save percentage (0.880) and shutouts per game (0.67).
Boissiere, a redshirt junior from Los Altos Hills, California, has made 13 appearances with one goal and one assist from central midfield in 2018. It is her second straight All-Pac-12 second team nod after earning the recognition in 2017 when she also named the College Cup's Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
Haley, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas, has scored three goals with five assists in 12 appearances in 2018. Two of her goals have been game winners, including the golden goal in a 2-1 overtime win against North Carolina (Sept. 9).
Pickett, a sophomore from Santa Barbara, California, has started all but two games as part of Stanford's exceptional defensive unit with one goal and three assists on the year. It is her second career All-Pac-12 nod after being named to the All-Freshman team in 2017.
Smith, a freshman from Windsor, Colorado, scored seven goals with two assists before a season-ending injury on Oct. 18. Her three game-winning goals co-led Pac-12 play, earning a spot on both the All-Pac-12 second team and All-Freshman team.
Girma, who hails from San Jose, California, has made 17 starts in central defense alongside Cook with three assists to her name. She was Stanford's lone member of the All-Pac-12 third team, joining Smith on the All-Freshman team.
Top-ranked Stanford opens the NCAA Tournament on Friday, playing host to Seattle at 7 p.m. as the field's No. 1 overall seed.
