STANFORD, Calif. – Alana Cook, Jordan DiBiasi and Catarina Macario were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team, as announced Thursday.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in December. Last season, Michelle Xiao became Stanford's 12th academic All-American, garnering first-team honors as the 2017 Elite 90 Award winner.
Cook, a finalist for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award from Far Hills, New Jersey, has played nearly every minute of all 88 games since her arrival on The Farm in 2015. This season, she has helped anchor a defensive unit that led the Pac-12 in goals-against average (0.46) during the regular season. A two-year captain and member of the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list, Cook has one goal and one assist this season after earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2017. Cook is on track to graduate Stanford with a bachelor's degree in symbolic systems with a concentration in human computer interaction.
DiBiasi, a senior captain from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, has missed just one game in her four-year career, leads the team in assists (8) and ranks second in goals (9) and points (26). DiBiasi is on track to graduate Stanford with a bachelor's degree in science, technology and society with a concentration in innovation and organization and a minor in psychology.
Macario (undeclared), a sophomore from San Diego who carries a 3.683 GPA, leads the Pac-12 in points per game (2.07), goals per game (0.86) and shots per game (5.14) after leading the nation in points (50) and assists (16) as a freshman. She earned ESPNW Player of the Year, first-team All-America, Pac-12 Forward of the Year and All-Pac-12 first-team honors in 2017, and is a member of the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy watch list.
Stanford is the only Pac-12 school with multiple first-team honorees, and one of just two programs with a student-athlete on the first team.
