STANFORD, Calif. - For a school-record 10th consecutive season, Stanford will play in a postseason football bowl game.
Stanford (8-4, 6-3 Pac-12) will take on Pitt (7-6, 6-2 ACC) in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. PT and the game can be seen on CBS.
The bowl appearance will be the 30th overall for Stanford, and fifth trip to the Sun Bowl. The Cardinal is 14-14-1 in bowl games, and 3-1 in the Sun Bowl, most recently defeating North Carolina, 25-23, in 2016. This will be Stanford's third straight bowl game in the state of Texas, including the 2017 Alamo Bowl.
Stanford is 1-2 all-time against Pitt, including a 7-6 win over the Panthers in the 1928 Rose Bowl Game. Pitt won the first meeting in California, 16-7, on Dec. 30, 1922, and the most recent meeting, 7-0, on Nov. 26, 1932, in the Steel City.
