STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford released its 2019 football schedule Tuesday, which features seven home games at Stanford Stadium and one of the nation's toughest nonconference slates.
All three nonconference opponents appear in the latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings. Traditional rival Notre Dame is the No. 3 seed and will play in the Cotton Bowl, UCF is undefeated since 2016 and appearing in its second straight New Year's Six bowl game while Northwestern was crowned this year's Big Ten West Division champion.
The trio of non-league foes has combined to go 33-5 (.868) this season and currently ranks No. 3, No. 8 and No. 22, respectively, heading into their postseason games.
Stanford will host the Wildcats in the season opener (Aug. 31) and the Irish in the season finale (Nov. 30). The remaining home schedule includes Pac-12 foes Oregon, Washington, a Thursday night matchup with UCLA, Reunion Homecoming against Arizona and the 122nd Big Game.
Following Stanford's first matchup with Northwestern since the 2015 season opener in Evanston, the Cardinal will visit the Coliseum to take on rival USC on Sept. 7.
For the first time in school history, Stanford will travel to Orlando to take on UCF on Sept. 14. It will also mark the program's first visit to Florida since the 2011 Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech.
The Cardinal welcomes Oregon to The Farm on Sept. 21, and travels to Corvallis to face Oregon State the following Saturday.
Stanford remains home throughout October, hosting Washington (Oct. 5) to begin the month and closing it out against Arizona (Oct. 26). Also included is a Thursday night tilt against UCLA (Oct. 17), which Stanford has beaten 11 straight times.
After a bye week, the Cardinal heads back to Colorado for the first time since 2015 on Nov. 9 and concludes its road schedule at Washington State on Nov. 16.
Stanford will host the Big Game on Nov. 23 in search of its 10th straight win over the Golden Bears.
The regular season comes to a close with the biennial visit from Notre Dame on Nov. 30.
