Fall Season Concludes

AUSTIN, Texas – Stanford concluded its fall season on Saturday night on Day 4 of the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The Cardinal began the evening by showing its strength in numbers in the 1,650-yard freestyle, led by True Sweetser (14:46.43) in third place. Johannes Calloni (14:49.64) placed fourth, James Murphy (14:53.83) was fifth and Matthew Hirschberger (14:56.48) followed them up in seventh place.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Patrick Conaton (1:43.11) was Stanford's highest finisher with seventh place while Alex Boratto (1:43.22) placed eighth. Benjamin Ho (1:43.10) was the Cardinal's fastest in the 200 back, winning the B-final.

Cole Cogswell (43.32) was the Cardinal's lone A-finalist in the 100-yard freestyle, placing seventh. Stanford put four swimmers in the 200-yard breaststroke A-final, led by Matt Anderson (1:54.09) in second place. Daniel Roy (1:54.62) finished third, Hank Poppe (1:55.57) placed sixth with Brennan Pastorek (1:57.15) in eighth.

Alex Liang (1:43.32) concluded his excellent week with a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly while Jack LeVant (1:43.46) also made the A-final, finishing fifth.

The Cardinal's team of Cogswell, DeVine, LeVant and Mason Gonzalez (2:51.96) wrapped up the evening with a strong finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing second.

Stanford is back in action on Jan. 11 when it plays host to Pacific at 11 a.m. PT. Stanford's only other home dual meet in 2019 is against USC on Feb. 9.
