No. 1 Stanford 13 – No. 8 Pacific 6

Madison Berggren and Aria Fischer each had hat tricks to pace five Cardinal with multi-goal efforts and Stanford scored 11 over the second and third quarters to beat Pacific for the second time this season. The Cardinal won its Stanford Invitational opener over the Tigers, 16-4, on Feb. 3.

Berggren put Stanford up 2-1 after the first with even strength (7:43) and power play (2:57) goals, but it was in the second when the Cardinal really got rolling.

Shannon Cleary and Aria Fischer began the frame with even strength scores at 7:12 and 6:14 and after Rachel Krieger rattled the cage in the 6-on-5 at 5:41 Jordan Raney went back-to-back for the Cardinal to make it 6-2 midway through the quarter. Krieger again was successful on the power play for the Tigers with just under three minutes remaining, but Makenzie Fischer set up a pair of Stanford scores heading into the half to help push the Stanford edge to 8-3. Fischer first hit Cleary with 90 seconds to go and then found her sister Aria with the clock at 27 seconds.

Stanford kept the pressure on coming out of the break. Krieger tallied her third to begin the quarter before Stanford reeled off five straight to put the game out of reach.

Kat Klass (2), Berggren, Sarah Klass and Aria Fischer were responsible for the Cardinal offense in the closing run. Pacific scored twice in the final period, the only offense after Fischer's final goal for Stanford with 30 seconds to go in the third.

Julia Hermann played the first half in the cage and made eight saves. Emalia Eichelberger came on in the second and had four stops.

Stanford was 2-of-5 on power plays and shot 50.0 percent, scoring its 13 goals on 26 attempts.
