REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – The Cardinal closed out the Stanford Invitational Sunday morning with wins in the first and third varsity eight boats.
The Cardinal's No. 12 varsity eight boat set the tone on a windy morning at Redwood Shores, defeating Georgetown by open water. Stanford clocked a time of 6:11.9 into the headwind, while the Hoyas finished with a time of 6:28.7.
Stanford's third varsity eight then competed in a rare three-boat race on the Redwood Shores course, taking on Hobart and Santa Clara. The Cardinal bested both opponents with a 6:34.2 time. Hobart placed second with a 6:38.7 and Santa Clara finished third with a time of 7.12.9.
The second varsity eight boat faced Georgetown in Stanford's third and final race of the Stanford Invitational. Georgetown got the best of the Cardinal, using a 6:22.4 to outpace Stanford's 6:26.0.
The Cardinal will take the upcoming weekend off from competition before returning to Redwood Shores for the 85th annual Big Row on April 28.
