STANFORD, Calif. – No. 4 Stanford will be well-represented in the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships, taking place at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex May 23-27.
Senior Tom Fawcett earned his fourth bid to the NCAA Singles Championships. Fawcett and Axel Geller will also compete together as Stanford's lone duo in the 32-team doubles event.
Fawcett, ranked No. 9 in the ITA singles poll, will make his fourth appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship. The Cardinal senior reached the semifinals of last year's tournament in Athens, Georgia, earning ITA All-America honors. He enters the NCAA Championships 19-4 overall with a 10-5 dual mark, playing all his matches at No. 1. Fawcett has nine wins over nationally-ranked foes this season.
On the doubles side, Fawcett and Geller have been stellar in their first season playing together. Playing No. 2 doubles for the Cardinal, the duo is 16-6 and ranked No. 24 in the ITA poll. Fawcett and Geller have won four of their last five matches, with their only loss during that stretch coming to the No. 7 doubles team in the ITA rankings.
Prior to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, Wake Forest will serve as the host site for the team championships, beginning with the round of 16 on May 17 and concluding with the NCAA championship match on May 22.
