STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Will Matthiessen is the Pac-12 Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference.
Matthiessen finished the week with four home runs, including two in Sunday's 6-4, sweep-clinching win at Utah. In four games as the designated hitter, he went 9-for-14 at the plate with nine RBI, eight runs and one walk. His start in a win over San Francisco on May 1 was his first since April 2 – Matthiessen entered the week with no career home runs.

No. 2 Stanford finished a weekend sweep of Utah on Sunday after setting a program record with 28 hits in Saturday's 25-5 win. The Cardinal has won six straight and 14 of its past 15 – Stanford hosts Santa Clara on Tuesday before travelling to Corvallis, Oregon, for a three-game series at Oregon State.
