McPhee Signs in Australia

STANFORD, Calif. – Brittany McPhee, the 2018 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, has signed a professional contract with the Perth Lynx of Australia's Women's National Basketball League.

A third team All-American according to USA TODAY, McPhee averaged career highs in points (16.7), rebounds (5.4), assists (2.4) and steals (1.3) in her senior season. She was also named an honorable mention All-American by both The Associated Press and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

A two-time national player of the week, McPhee scored 20+ nine times and was one of 14 Power 5 conference guards in the country to average 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. She scored 31 of her career-high 33 in Stanford's 78-65 upset at No. 6 Oregon on Feb. 4, which was the first 30-point road performance for a Stanford player against a top-10 team since 2007.

She became Stanford's 39th 1,000-point scorer in its win over No. 25 Arizona State on Jan. 26 and finished her career tied for 29th on the Cardinal's all-time scoring list with 1,250. McPhee was the first Stanford guard to average more than 15 points per game in a season since Candice Wiggins in 2007-08 (20.2).

A human biology major with a 3.72 GPA, McPhee became Stanford's ninth academic All-American when she was named to the 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-American Division I second team on March 12. As a junior she was honored at the 2017 Final Four as women's basketball's Elite 90 award winner, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

Eleven of McPhee's 26 outings in 2017-18 were against the AP Top 25 and she averaged 18.6 points and 5.1 rebounds in those games. She was one of 10 players in the country to average 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds against ranked teams (minimum 10 games).

Perth finished first last regular season with a 15-6 record, but was bounced out of in semifinals of the WNBL's postseason tournament by the Melbourne Boomers. McPhee will be the eighth Stanford graduate to play professionally in Australia.
