With the 2019 season set to begin on February 8 at the Kajikawa Classic, freshman Emily Schultz took time to answer a few questions to help introduce herself to the Stanford softball fanbase.
I chose Stanford because…:
The second I stepped foot on this campus, I fell in love with every aspect of it. From the amazing people and professors, to the once in a lifetime opportunity to earn a Stanford degree, I knew that this place would change my life. Every day I am so grateful to have the opportunity to wear the Stanford jersey.
Person I would most like to compete against:
My sister.
Three words that best describe me:
Competitive, determined and sarcastic.
My pregame ritual:
Listening to my favorite music once my hair is tied back the same way.
Road trip I'm most looking forward to this year:
LSU.
One fun fact about me:
I love any food involving sweet potatoes.
Favorite pro sports team:
Los Angeles Dodgers.
Favorite pro sports athlete:
Cody Bellinger or Clayton Kershaw.
Favorite midnight snack:
Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
Best advice received:
Hard work will take you places where talent can only take you so far.
Greatest athletic moment to date:
Hitting a home run in my first collegiate game this fall.

Of my three siblings, I'm the smallest one!
How I chose my jersey number:
My first number was #3 since I was one of three kids. From that point, I chose any number with a 3 in it. I picked #13 a few years ago, and it felt like a lucky number to me.
Favorite spot on campus:
Anywhere in Main Quad.
Game show I want to be on:
Family Feud.
Favorite class:
Health Care Ethics.
My future plans:
Attend medical school and become a physician.
