STANFORD, Calif. – Former Stanford right-handed pitcher Mike Mussina is a member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, as announced Tuesday.

Mussina, who played three seasons on The Farm from 1988-90, joins Mariano Rivera, Edgar Martinez and Roy Halladay as the 2019 inductees. During his junior season in 1990, Mussina finished 14-5 with nine complete games, a 3.50 earned-run average and 111 strikeouts in 149.0 innings pitched. Following that season, Mussina was drafted 20th overall in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Baltimore Orioles.

His 14 wins tie for second in program history while his 149.0 innings pitched ranks sixth – Mussina's 328.1 career innings at Stanford rank 10th in program history. As a freshman in 1988, Mussina helped Stanford capture its second consecutive national championship.

In 18 major league seasons with Baltimore and the New York Yankees, Mussina went 270-153 with a 3.68 ERA and 2,813 strikeouts in 3,562.2 innings pitched. A five-time All-Star and seven-time Gold Glove Award winner, Mussina led major league baseball with 19 wins in 1995.
