Back to California

STANFORD, Calif. – Having already topped California in each of the first two weeks of the season, No. 2 Stanford will travel back to No. 11 Cal on Sunday for a 6 p.m. Pac-12 televised meet from Haas Pavilion.

The two teams met in Berkeley, Calif. two weeks ago, with Stanford winning the Cal Benefit Cup by way of the nation's top score that week (411.250). Last week, the Cardinal welcomed the Golden Bears for the Stanford Open, taking top honors with a team score of 406.300.

Senior Grant Breckenridge finished second in the collegiate all-around on Saturday, posting a score of 79.850, including winning the event title in parallel bars (14.200) for the second straight week. The native of Libertyville, Ill. finished the night by adding a second-place finish in the high bar with a score of 13.400.

The Card captured four event titles in total at the Stanford Open, including a career-best 14.700 in the floor exercise from sophomore Bryan Perla. That mark matches Connor Lewis' floor score to open the year as the highest in the nation this season, and paired with Bailey Perez' consistent routines, has Stanford sitting 1-2 atop the floor rankings.

Sophomore Thomas Lee anchored the third rotation for Stanford, notching a career-best 14.300 and sticking the dismount to share the still rings event title with Cal's Harrison Plate. Showing depth in the event, Stanford took the top-three spots in the vault, with freshman Brody Malone leading the way and capturing his first collegiate event title with a score of 14.550.

Following the meet at Cal, the Cardinal will travel to Tempe, Ariz. to compete at the Pac-12 Invitational on Saturday, February 2. In addition to Stanford and Cal, Arizona State and Washington are scheduled to compete at the Invitational.
