BERKELEY, Calif. – Freshman Brody Malone won the all-around title with a mark of 84.550 and No. 2 Stanford posted a season-best 417.800 team score en route to defeating No. 11 California for the third straight week, this time from Cal's Haas Pavilion on Sunday night in a Pac-12 Networks televised meet. Malone's all-around score is the second-highest in the nation this season.

Malone, a native of Summerville, Ga., won the high bar with a career-best score of 14.250. That mark is also the highest for Stanford in the event this season. Two other Stanford gymnasts registered career-highs in the event, including Andrew Bitner (13.750) and freshman Ian Gunther (13.650), to help the Card to a 68.950 team score.
As a team, Stanford registered new team-highs in every event outside of parallel bars, including a 72.550 in the vault – the top score in any event this year for the Cardinal, and the third-best vault score in the nation. Stanford's vault run included a career-best 14.800 from sophomore Bryan Perla to capture the event title. Senior Grant Breckenridge had previously set the Stanford season-standard with a 14.600 earlier in the competition, but he was pushed to second place overall after Perla's impressive run. Bailey Perez (14.500), Malone (14.400) and Connor Lewis (14.250) all contributed strong vaults to help guide Stanford to the high score.

Equally as impressive, the Cardinal registered the second-best floor score in the NCAA this year with a mark of 71.900. Lewis guided the way for the Cardinal in the event, notching his second 14.700 of the season – equaling the best mark in the nation. Competing for Stanford for the first time this year, senior Ryan Sheppard turned in a 14.600 on the floor, followed by Malone with a career-high 14.500 to leave Stanford in the top-three spots.

Gunther led the way on rings, totaling 14.300 to match the best score for a Cardinal this year and capture the event title. Stanford, which managed a 69.150 as a team, also received a 13.950 from senior Josiah Eng in his return to competition following an injury that kept him sidelined all last year.
Stanford opened the night on the pommel horse, taking a step forward in an event that has proven difficult early this year. The Card compiled a score of 65.500, including Gunther's team-high 13.650 to claim his second event title of the night. Malone's 13.600 was also a career-best, while Breckenridge (13.050) registered a season-best.
A pair of career-highs highlighted the effort on parallel bars, as Blake Sun (14.500) and Malone (14.150) took the top-two spots in the event.

Stanford will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it travels to Tempe, Ariz. to compete at the Pac-12 Invitational. Stanford, Cal, Arizona State and Washington are all scheduled to compete next weekend.
