STANFORD, Calif. – No. 13 Stanford overpowered UC Santa Cruz, 25-11, 25-17, 25-15, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.
The Cardinal (2-0) hit .500 as a team, notching 40 kills on 62 swings with just nine attack errors in the sweep. Stanford held UC Santa Cruz (0-1) to an .028 clip.
Sophomore middle blocker Kyler Presho led all players with nine kills on .727 hitting to go with three blocks. Junior middle Stephen Moye added eight kills on nine errorless swings to hit .889.
Junior setter Paul Bischoff ran the offense for the majority of the evening, dishing out 25 assists to go with three blocks, two kills and two digs. Fifth-year senior libero Kyle Dagostino finished with a match-best six digs.
Sophomore opposite Jaylen Jasper hit .545 with seven kills on 11 swings and just one errors. The Annapolis, Maryland, native also registered three blocks and three aces. Senior outside hitter Jordan Ewert was 6-0-9 for a .667 attack percentage and five digs.

Junior outside hitter Eric Beatty added five kills and five digs in the sweep. Junior Eli Wopat had two kills and the match-clinching ace in the third set. Senior setter Russell Dervay appeared in two sets, finishing with seven assists and a dig.

UC Santa Cruz was led by Raymond Cascio and Quinn Barrett, who tallied five kills apiece for the Banana Slugs. Setter Matthew Nealon racked up 16 assists and three blocks.
Stanford remains on The Farm next week to play host to Ball State on Thursday in Maples Pavilion and No. 8 Ohio State on Saturday in Burnham Pavilion.
