SEATTLE - Tournament play for Saturday's quarterfinal matches at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships has been cancelled.
No. 1 Stanford was scheduled to face No. 6 Texas on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The Cardinal and Longhorns are already slated to square off on Saturday, March 2, at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
However, both the University of Washington's Nordstrom Tennis Center and Seattle Tennis Club remain closed for the remainder of the day due to unsafe road conditions. The Seattle area received over six inches of snow on Friday.
The Cardinal defeated No. 18 LSU 4-0 on Friday night in the opening round.
Stanford last participated in the event in 2011, when it posted victories over Arkansas, Michigan and North Carolina before taking down Florida in the final. Prior to that, the Cardinal had not captured an indoor tournament title since 2006.
The original format featured the nation's top 16 teams competing in a single-elimination format, with the final slated for Monday, Feb. 11, although that may now change with the modified schedule.
